This man's music took me from a bad childhood in the 1970's, tucked away in my bedroom hiding with Eldorado, Fire On High and Face The Music in my ears wondering how does a human being do this ? I later went on to become a singer-songwriter which would never have happened without Jeff Lynne. Then 2 weeks ago I flew over to New York from Scotland to see him live in Madison Square Garden to book end my gratitude and love, thank you a million times across a million hours, Lee
Saw Jeff Lynn's ELO on tour right before COVID kicked off, guy's greatly underrated as a producer, songwriter and performer. Tandy was the Richard's to Jeff's Jagger. Sad to see all this talent leaving us. R.I.P.

Underated....by whom? It's a silly, cliched comment that everyone uses for their particular favorites.
Jeff Lynne , he has such a pure voice. Been a fan since 1975. Still hope to see him live. Unfortunately never been able to. Everything he does is perfect. Thank you for all you do, and all the memories we have shared.
Aside from being a great musician, writer, producer, recorder, this guy STILL has an amazing voice, his tone and pitch is perfect, every bit as strong as it was in the 70’s.
It's ironic that the man behind the Electric Light Orchestra, the very epitome of synth-rock, is even more impressive with just an acoustic guitar and piano accompanying him. A true genius, and astute enough to surround himself with great musicians like Richard Tandy. Long may he continue to make great music!
One of my favorite groups and favorite song writer / singer. Jeff Lynn!!!! Music is so much more than just words and notes. You can sing and play all the notes perfect, but a great part of it is missing when you do not sing from your heart. That is really where the best music comes from, when someone sings from their heart. What an amazing gift that God has created.
Never, ever tire of Jeff Lynne. His music is timeless. I ALWAYS come back to his songs over and over again. Great songwriter, producer, musician and singer. And, just a wonderful human. Love the friendship and chemistry he has with Richard Tandy. They compliment each other beautifully.

lookin at the replies, i'm glad i'm not the only teen that likes these old songs. I grew up listening to my parent's music and my dad would play ELO and Genesis a lot. Mum is more into some 80s stuff, like OMD and A Flock Of Seagulls. Personally, my fav artist would be Supertramp but Jeff Lynne is such an underrated legend.
Something happened after WW2...there seemed to be an explosion of extraordinary musical creativity......i believe the universe gave us these marvelous people to counteract all that death and suffering.....jeff's one of them....a magically gifted musical poet put here to lift us up.
How in the world did I wait until my 70’s to find these artists? This kid didn’t realize what he was missing which is my loss. THANKS for this wonderful session.
Jeff Lynne is the most talented Music God ever. He will be 71 in 2018 and his voice is Gold. All his live concerts sound as good if not better than the original recordings...Not many bands and musicians can match that. Just have a listen from Jeff Lynne's ELO at Wembley Stadium June 24 2017... Can't wait to see Jeff Lynne's ELO on the 2018 Europe and North American Tour. I just received my tickets for LA , NY and Toronto Canada. It will be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw your comment in 2020, I agree with you, Telephone Line was a song that I heard frequently when I was very young, it represents most of my youth, but now that I am 60, I remember that this song makes me think about one girlfriend that I had when I was 58, she was really a bad person, she was dating another man at the same time than me, I was very sad and upset and I kept calling her on the telephone, she did not answer, and that was the best thing that ever happened to me, I recover from this situation very quickly and was very happy that I got rid of this woman, so you can imagine everything that it represents for me, so, every time that I hear it I almost cry of happiness, best regards.

My father grew up in Shard End and I've always admired Jeff. Time passes and his talents seem greater now that when I was a youngster. Loved actually hearing Richard Tandy too !
Telephone Line - Brilliant, just Brilliant. One of the things I love about the acoustic performance of telephone line is that although these two guys have been together for decades and know each other so well, the brilliant Richard Tandy smiles as he plays during the song as though in awe of what he is actually a part of. It's almost as if he is feeling "Am I really a part of this?!" I can sort of play telephone line on the piano in the style of Richard, but I have given up trying to sing like Jeff. Huge range - Lucky boy. God bless Jeff and Richard.
MARAVILLOSO!! Jeff Lynne quizás no tenga todo el reconocimiento que se merece.....un artista impresionante que también formó la música de los 70. Verlo y oirlo aquí con Tandy me emociona profundamente...
Saw Jeff twice in the early 80’s at the Chicago Stadium with Hall & Oates as the Opening Act. Flash forward 35 years later my 19 year old Son and I saw him in 2018 at All-State Arena in Northwest Suburban Rosemont and again in 2019 at the United Center in Chicago. Simply Sensational. What a supreme joy it is to hear and watch Lynne and Tandy perform together. And Jeff's voice is blissful!
R.I.P Richard Tandy (1948 - 2024)

He is, and he's not lost an ounce of his range in 50 years.
Yes it is absolutely remarkable - almost miraculous. He has obviously taken excellent care of his vocal chords - or else they are made of steel.
